Dublin City Council has been advised by Met Eireann that there is still a risk of coastal flooding to parts of Dublin over the next two days (7th to 9th November 2010).
Householders, property owners, motorists and pedestrians should be aware of the risk of flooding particularly in Clontarf and Sandymount.
Dublin City Council has put in place a flood contingency plan to address the risk of flooding. Sandbags have been provided to properties in the high risk areas of Strand Road, Sandymount and Coast Road, Clontarf. The car parks on the sea front at Clontarf and Sandymount are now closed and will remain closed until Tuesday 9th November.
The following roads in Sandymount with the junction of Strand Road will be closed from 4.00 pm Sunday 7th November until at least midday on 9th November:
St. John’s Road East
New Grove Avenue
Marine Drive (at the junction of Beach Road)
It may also be necessary to close the following roads at short notice:
Coast Road, Clontarf from Alfie Byrne Road to Watermill Road (diversion via the Howth Road)
Strand Road, Sandymount from Sean Moore Road to the Merrion Gates
