The increase in temperatures has caused a sudden increase in broken mains. This has resulted in asignificant increase in leakage which in turn has caused a drop in drinking water storage. It is therefore necessary to impose restrictions on supply in order to bring demand back into balance with our treatment capacity. The table below provides details of the restrictions that will be in place from this evening (27th December 2010).
The situation will be reviewed on a daily basis to determine what restrictions are required. We would like to thank consumers for their co-operation to date and to ask them to reduce their demand for water to the absolute minimum possible and to conserve water in every they can.

Customers should be aware that unlike some other utilities, water distribution systems cannot be operated and managed to the point where the exact locations and precise times at which the effects of pressure alternations (both increases and decreases) will be experienced, however we do make every effort to ensure that the times and areas effected are limited to those mentioned above.
We would like to thank people for their patience and cooperation and we would ask that people report locations where they see water running/rising to the contacts given below.
Bogus callers may use the current water problems to gain access to houses. If a member of Dublin City Council calls to a property they will always carry and produce identification. If the caller asks you to check the flow of water at the taps, close the door fully while you do so. If you are in any doubt do not allow access.
