The second of the three very high tides took place at 1pm today with the eighth highest tide on record at Alexandra Basin.
The last of the current very high tides will take place at approximately 1.30 am on Thursday morning (18/10/2012). That tide is predicted to be less than today’s lunchtime high tide. The following preventative measures remain in place and will be reviewed on Thursday.
o The Liffey Boardwalk defences have been closed.
o The car parks at Sandymount promenade and Clontarf have been closed. .
o The flood defences on the River Tolka have been put in place.
o Drainage crews have been mobilised.
o The flood gates on the River Dodder have been closed.
The City Council’s Drainage Division will continue to monitor the situation throughout the night.
